Selection of prints by N.F. Eisenberger (1707-1773) for one of the most important early German works on medicinal plants. Eisenberger was responsible for re-engraving Blackwell's "Curious Herbal" original 500 plates, providing an additional 100 and embellishing them with added details of flower parts and fruits.

These prints were copper engraved and finely watercoured and published, by subscription in 50 monthly parts, in Nuremberg between 1750 and 1773

The complete work includes 600 superb plates.

Each print in folio edition measure approx. 33 by 21 cm with fine handcolouring. Chained hand made - and sometime watermarked - paper.

The prints in excellent condition, are beautifully executed copper engravings in very fine detail, all with original handcolouring. The colours are bright and very intense on a white medium weight paper.

There is no accompanying text. The images cannot show the minute detail of the stipple engravings. All our prints are guaranteed authentic antique prints. Chiudi
