In 1972, Le Orme released Uomo Di Pezza, their third official studio album. As with Collage, the group employed the production of Gian Piero Reverberi and the album was recorded at Phonogram's Milan studios in the spring of 1972. The trio consists of Michi Dei Rossi on drums, Tony Pagliuca on keyboards and Aldo Tagliapietra on vocals and bass. Uomo Di Pezza is the second album recorded for Philips, the artwork is by Mario Convertino and the magnificent cover illustration is by the painter Walter Mac Mazzieri. Compared to Collage in Uomo Di Pezza we find a more elaborate and creative musicality, a real step towards full maturity. This time the trio is more personal and has its own baroque and dreamlike vision of Progressive, less tied to the influences of Anglo-Saxon bands. With Uomo Di Pezza the three musicians triumph commercially and show their extraordinary professionalism; the compositions, lyric writing, and musical expertise have nothing to envy from foreign groups and it can now be said that Le Orme have reached unexpected international musical heights. The album is considered one of the masterpieces of Progressive Rock, and not only in Italy, although at the time of its release there was no shortage of criticism from the most ardent fans, who ill-digested the record's success, putting the trio in a position to carefully consider their next steps. The results were not to be expected and were even more surprising.\r

L'Uovo Di Colombo is a Roman quartet that recorded a single self-titled album in 1973. The band is made up of Elio Volpini (bass), Ruggero Stefani (drums), Enzo Volpini (guitar and keyboards) and Toni Gionta, aka Toni Tartarini, a singer with a splendid voice. They immediately came to the fore thanks to some live performances, opening for Deep Purple at the Palasport in Rome in March 1973 and in the same year taking part in the Viterbo Pop Festival together with artists such as Alan Sorrenti and Mauro Pelosi. Released on the Columbia label distributed by EMI, the album is a truly brilliant and distinctive debut. It includes polished compositions and carefully crafted arrangements that highlight the technical potential of the instrumentalists and create a balanced and energetic album, without any drop in tone. The track L'Indecisione, at the album's opening, is a pearl for all Prog lovers; in Council, vocal melody and avant-garde sound are combined; Vox Dei too, with an instrumental base clearly inspired by Uriah Heep, is among the moments to remember of yet another Italian Progressive Rock 'gem'.\r

First work by Latte E Miele, a band that is part of the Genoese Progressive Rock scene, a trio formed by Marcello Giancarlo Dellacasa, Oliviero Lacagnina and Alfio Vitanza. The musical model they refer to is that of the prog trio - Emerson Lake & Palmer in England, Le Orme in Italy - although they do not disdain interesting ideas that draw on jazz and folk. Passio Secundum Mattheum is their debut album and was released by Polydor in 1972: a challenging and complex work, a musical concept inspired by one of the four canonical gospels of the New Testament, the Passion of Christ according to Matthew. In the album, the Evangelist's texts are recited in their entirety and adapted in song, while the musical arrangements alternate moments of great impact with more delicate atmospheres. Passio Secundum Mattheum is a progressive suite consisting of an introduction and twelve moments that highlight traces of baroque and symphonic music alongside ecclesiastical choirs and sounds closer to rock, medieval folk and jazz. The album is a work of clear classical inspiration and, with the recited parts entrusted to the actor Oreste Lionello, was presented in concert in 1973 at the Pontifical Oratory of St. Peter's in the presence of Pope Paul VI and high figures from the Vatican and the Catholic and civil world.\r

Sensation's Fix: Finest Finger, is the fourth album by Sensations' Fix, a musical project by Franco Falsini from Tuscany, an eclectic musician constantly oriented towards research and electronic experimentation. The band immediately stands out for the international scope of its compositions, not only for its use of English but above all for its continuous musical research. Sensations' Fix stands out in the Italian Progressive scene for the particular musical imprint conceived by Falsini, who loves the electronic sounds of German bands, experimenting with keyboards and synthesisers and adding electronic effects and space guitars. Finest Finger was released in 1976 after the three albums released in 1974, Fragments Of Light, Sensations' Fix (a promotional record with the band's name misspelled) and Portable Madness, considered by many to be the band's true debut. The eight compositions of Finest Finger also mark a definite change, containing more elaborate vocal parts and delicate acoustic guitar atmospheres interwoven with the usual electronic carpets and cosmic effects. This time Sensations' Fix's space-prog swerves decisively towards more usable sounds: it is a stylistic choice that keeps its musical essence intact and at the same time turns towards an excellent sonic evolution.\r
